Braves closer Mark Melancon casually catches teammate’s home run while warming up in the bullpen

Mark Melancon made the catch, then sealed the deal.

Before he entered the bottom of the ninth inning to close out Game 1 of the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Atlanta Braves closer was warming up in the bullpen when Ozzie Albies' two-run home run came flying in.

Melancon threw a warm-up pitch, turned to the field of play, then casually reached up to make the catch on Albies' homer while standing on the bullpen mound in left center field at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Almost like he's played the outfield his entire life.

And while it wasn't a save situation with the Braves leading 5-1, Melancon closed out the Dodgers in order in the bottom of the ninth inning.

After the game, Melancon turned to social media and tweeted: "Look at me, I can be, centerfield!" – a nod to John Fogarty's classic 1985 song "Centerfield."
