Dons hold the key to unlock trade movement
Daniel Cherny reports that rival clubs are privately adamant Essendon hold the keys to unlocking the second half of the AFL's trade period as the Bombers prepare for days of critical dealing ahead.
As Essendon eye moves for Josh Dunkley, Peter Wright, Jye Caldwell and Nick Hind, even some clubs not directly involved in those potential trades are waiting for the Bombers to act because of the domino effect of their transactions, according to industry sources.
Just four players have changed clubs via trades so far this year, with none of those deals involving the Dons, despite them looking to bring in several players and with key pair Orazio Fantasia and Adam Saad both eyeing exits from the club.
The Bombers have reached impasses with both Port Adelaide and Carlton over the trade requests of Fantasia and Saad respectively.
