In all the talk about a Broncos player exodus what has been lost is that new coach Kevin Walters has about $3 million in talent unsigned beyond next season.
Brent Read revealed on Triple M that the Broncos need to lock up a number of young stars, who will be available to be poached by rival clubs as of November 1.
“The Broncos are entering a really crucial period because we have spoken about Kevvie and the guys he wants to move on,” Read said on Triple M’s Saturday Scrum.

Jennings doping ‘disgraceful’
NRL: Cooper Cronk has said that if Michael Jennings B sample comes back as positive then it will be disgraceful, and that the Eels are no chance against the Bunnies.

“Those names were bandied around mid-week in Joe Ofahengaue and Jack Bird who are free to go.
“But on November 1 they have about six players entering the last year of their deals and a lot of them are the guys they want to build the club around.”
Off-contract players Jordan Kahu, Sean O’Sullivan, Richie Kennar and Issac Luke are expected to be released by the Broncos.
Meanwhile stars Matt Lodge, Ofahengaue and Bird are reportedly on the outer, according to The Courier Mail.

However Read pinpointed two stars the Broncos are desperate to keep that are free to entertain offers from NRL rivals a week after the 2020 grand final.
“Guys like Tom Dearden and Xavier Coates and those sort of guys,” Read said.

“I worked out there is about $3 million worth of talent they have got to lock up.
“So there has been all this talk about who is leaving the Broncos, but Kevvie has reached the point where he has to make some decisions about who he keeps and how much he pays them.
“That is going to be crucial in the next two or three weeks for them.”
