Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi has backed their Premier League title credentials after an impressive start to the season.
The Blues will resume their league campaign on Saturday lunchtime and could go top of the table with a win over Newcastle.
Frank Lampard’s men have been free-scoring with summer signings Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech making strong starts.
Hudson-Odoi has had to be patient for his chances with two goals and one assist in seven games.
Competition for places is high at Stamford Bridge but after an atypical start to the season by the big clubs, the league is wide open.
And Hudson-Odoi believes Chelsea’s strong squad can profit with a sustained title challenge.
“We’ve started really well and we want to maintain that,” he told Chelseafc.com.
“What we’re doing well is defensively we’re keeping clean sheets and up front we’re scoring a lot of goals, which is a good thing.
“We’re not just dependent on our attackers; we’re dependent on everyone in the team and we’re getting goals from everywhere on the pitch.
“We want to keep building, keep getting goals, keep getting assists and keep working hard as a team and hopefully, you never know, we could win the title as well.”
Meanwhile, N’Golo Kante expressed similar confidence to Hudson-Odoi about Chelsea’s prospects.
The France midfielder was a big miss for Chelsea last season as he battled various injuries.
But the 29-year-old is back fit, in form and ready to attack their targets amid a hectic schedule.
He said: “The team has changed in recent years but the coach has been here for a year working together now.
“We’ve signed some new players and what we are trying to do is maintain Chelsea’s standards – win titles and be at the top nationally.
“We are well-placed at the moment and I hope we continue in this vein.”
