Dimitar Berbatov's Premier League predictions including Liverpool vs Leicester

After what seems like an absolute age, the Premier League is back with a bang this weekend with a couple of table-topping fixtures to look forward to.

Tottenham have made a hugely impressive start to the new campaign but will face a stiff examination of their title credentials against a Manchester City side buoyed by Pep Guardiola’s decision to sign a new contract.

Champions Liverpool, beset by injuries, host leaders Leicester at Anfield, while Chelsea will hope to continue their excellent run of form at Newcastle.

As ever, Betfair ambassador Dimitar Berbatov previews the action for Metro.co.uk…

Newcastle v Chelsea

The Blues are flying in attack and at the back they’ve conceded just one goal in their last three matches. It’s all coming together for Frank Lampard’s men and I expect another win. Prediction: 0-3

Betfair Exchange Odds: Newcastle – 6/1, Draw – 4/1. Chelsea – 8/15

Aston Villa v Brighton

Nobody expected Villa to win so emphatically against Arsenal last time out. I hope Dean Smith’s men can build on that and gain consistency. Prediction: 2-0.

Betfair Exchange Odds: Aston Villa – 5/4, Draw – 11/4, Brighton – 12/5

Man Utd v West Brom

A perfect chance for United to get their first home win of the season. West Brom are struggling and United must seize this opportunity with both hands – or both feet, if you like. Prediction: 3-0.

Betfair Exchange Odds: Man United – 4/11, Draw – 9/2, West Brom – 10/1

Tottenham v Man City

I want to see my old team Tottenham win, so that they can say to the whole league that they’re serious about challenging for the title, and I believe they will win. Prediction: 2-1

Betfair Exchange Odds: Tottenham – 16/5, Draw – 16/5 Man City – 5/6

Fulham v Everton

Everton have slipped up recently but this is still a really tough one for Scott Parker’s men. Everton will win this but not by much. Prediction: 0-1

Betfair Exchange Odds: Fulham – 3/1, Draw – 3/1 Everton – 20/21

Sheffield United v West Ham

The Blades are struggling to score goals and are conceding too many. But I still think they can come good, starting with a win here. Prediction: 2-1.

Betfair Exchange Odds: Sheff United – 11/5, Draw – 12/5, West Ham – 6/4

Leeds v Arsenal

This will be a good game to watch. Leeds play attractive football and leave spaces for opponents to counter-attack, so there will be goals. Prediction: 2-2.

Betfair Exchange Odds: Leeds – 9/4, Draw – 14/5, Arsenal – 5/4

Liverpool v Leicester

I will be interested to see how Liverpool replace their missing players but whoever comes in needs to be at the top of their game. Leicester play great football and Jamie Vardy, who is flying, can exploit Liverpool’s makeshift defence. Prediction: 1-2.

Betfair Exchange Odds: Liverpool – 20/21, Draw – 16/5, Leicester – 3/1

Burnley v Crystal Palace

Two shrewd managers pit their wits at Turf Moor on Monday night and I can see it ending honours even with goals at both ends. Prediction: 1-1.

Betfair Exchange Odds: Burnley – 15/8, Draw – 11/5, Crystal Palace – 15/8

Wolves v Southampton

Saints are going under the radar as one of the most impressive sides in the top flight so far. Wolves are still quality too so this is a difficult one to predict but something tells me the visitors can march on at Molineux. Prediction: 0-1

Betfair Exchange Odds: Wolves – 11/8, Draw – 9/4, Southampton – 5/2
