Harry Wilson set for Liverpool exit after failing to land Premier League move

Liverpool midfielder Harry Wilson is set for an exit after failing to land a transfer in the Premier League.

The Welshman, who has only made one competitive appearance for the Reds, was believed to be on the way out this summer after loan spells at Derby and Bournemouth.

While talks with Burnley developed, the Clarets were not willing to meet the Premier League champions’ £15million valuation, leaving the 23-year-old in limbo.

But The Sun have reported that Wilson will be thrown a lifeline from the second tier.

Swansea have inquired about the midfielder’s availability as the Welsh side look to bolster their squad for a promotion chase.

And Liverpool would be happy to see the Welshman head to the Swans, the club who gave Rhian Brewster scoring experience in the Championship.

This led to a £23.5m Sheffield United transfer – a fate the report says the club are looking for with Wilson.

Swansea will also have to send off competition, though, from Derby, Cardiff, Nottingham Forest and Norwich.

Wilson burst onto the scene on his third loan spell from Liverpool at Frank Lampard’s Rams in the 2018/19 season, scoring 18 goals in 49 games to reach the Championship play-off.

While the Welshman enjoyed a successful pre-season, he was shipped out to Bournemouth.

Scoring seven goals in 35 appearances, including an incredible free-kick against Manchester City, it was not enough to stop the Cherries avoiding relegation.

His only two competitive appearances for the Reds to date came in the FA Cup when he replaced Philippe Coutinho against Plymouth Argyle in 2017 while starting the Carabao Cup loss to Arsenal this year.

Wilson’s job of getting into Jurgen Klopp’s side got harder over the summer with the arrival of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.

The Spaniard has been in quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19 – but he shared a positive update last week on his health.
