Everton could move to sign Roma goalkeeper Pau Lopez to replace Jordan Pickford.

The England international has made a string of notable mistakes in recent weeks as his team-mates continue to impress in the Premier League, which could have left Carlo Ancelotti feeling uncertain.

The Toffees could in turn search for some strong competition for the 26-year-old on the final day of the transfer window, which could come in the form of Spain international Lopez.

The 25-year-old, who moved to Italy from Betis in 2019, also has some experience of living in England following a loan spell with Tottenham during the 2016/17 season.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato have reported that Everton are trying to complete a loan deal for the keeper, but it is unclear whether they would be looking to include an option or obligation to buy.

Roma paid in the region of £20m to bring the player to the club, and he has since made 42 appearances in all competitions having replaced Robin Olsen as first choice.

Ancelotti refused to rule out more incoming deals following the win over Brighton, which is set to include Norwich defender Ben Godfey.

"Wait, wait. Monday is soon, Monday is coming," Ancelotti said.

"We have to wait and see what is going on in these two days.

"You will see, you will see. Maybe something can come. Some new signings are coming."

Having said of Pickford’s performance: “He did a mistake but nothing happened.
