Liverpool player ratings vs Sheffield United: Fabinho reckless but Jota good

Liverpool came from behind to seal a crucial Premier League win over Sheffield United. It ends a two-game league run without a win for Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds went behind after Fabinho’s foul on McBurnie was reviewed as taking place in the box. Sander Berge made no mistake from the spot.

Roberto Firmino, though, levelled the scores just before half-time. The Brazilian was recently called out by Peter Crouch over his lack of goals and this was fine way to respond.

New signing Diogo Jota wrapped up the win for Liverpool with a fine header. The Portuguese lept well to nod Sadio Mane’s cross home.

Liverpool player ratings below

Alisson – 6

A welcome return to goal for the Brazilian and made some good saves to go with it. Even his sheer presence is reassuring to the Liverpool defence.

Alexander-Arnold – 6

Fine at the back and was determined to get forward as always. Just lacked that killer instinct with his final ball on this occasion.

Fabinho – 4

Dived in recklessly and showed he’s still got some work to do if he wants fill Virgil van Dijk’s boots. Outpaced by Burke in the second half.

Gomez – 6

Calm and steady where Fabinho was sometimes not. His pace is key alongside the Brazilian.

Robertson – 6

Looked quick and ready to react. Another solid display at left-back by the Scot.

Henderson – 7

Brilliant in midfield and defence today. The Liverpool midfielder made plenty of interceptions and controlled the game well from the middle.

Wijnaldum – 6

Another commanding and strong performance from the Dutchman. The fact that he didn’t push through for a move to Barcelona is a huge boost to Liverpool.

Firmino – 6

Tapped home to get his goal and it will do him the world of confidence. Knows he needs to do more in terms of scoring goals and this will help.

Salah – 6

Cruelly had a wonderful goal ruled out. Always a menace but rarely found himself in a position to punish Sheffield United. Hit the post when he did.

Mane – 6

Always a threat and it was header who forced the goal for Liverpool. Struggled to make an impact in the second half but lively as ever.

Jota – 7

Very good header to wrap up all three points for Liverpool. It’s tough breaking into this Liverpool front line but that’s the way to do it.
