Manchester United are edging ever closer to agreeing terms with Barcelona to sign Ousmane Dembele after a new bid was made on Monday, according to reports. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seen just Donny van de Beek arrive as the club’s only summer signing so far.
Transfer deadline day LIVE
Jadon Sancho has been the club’s top target throughout the summer transfer window.
A deal looked relatively straight forward to complete at the start of the summer with Borussia Dortmund open to holding talks and United being the only club at the table.
But negotiations have dragged on for months now with United refusing to meet Dortmund’s £108million valuation.
That’s forced United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to look at alternative options heading into transfer deadline day.

Ivan Perisic and Douglas Costa had been linked with moves to Old Trafford.
But it appears as though United may be moving ahead with plans to sign Dembele from Barcelona.
The French winger has struggled to make a regular impact at the Nou Camp since his £135m move back in 2017.
Long-term injuries have played a huge role in his inability to kick on at Barcelona, but he’s still seen as one of the world’s most promising prospects.

Reports emerged in recent weeks that United were looking at a permanent deal for the 23-year-old.
But it’s now been claimed that United have opened negotiations with Barcelona on taking Dembele on loan.
And according to RAC1, Barcelona are strongly considering the new approach.
The report states that Barcelona are beginning to ‘like’ the idea of sending Dembele out on loan.
It is said that Barcelona would look to strike a similar deal which saw Philippe Coutinho join Bayern Munich in 2019.
They want United to pay a sizeable sum of money to take Dembele on loan while paying his wages for the full season.
Bayern paid £8m to take Coutinho on loan last summer and agreed to pay his salary for the year he spent at the club.
But Dembele is one of the highest earners at the Nou Camp, reportedly taking home £215,000-a-week.
