Man Utd have clear Jadon Sancho transfer plan in approach for two deadline deals

Manchester United are still looking to sign a right-sided winger in the final hours of the transfer window but their approach on deadline day suggests they haven’t fully given up hope of signing Jadon Sancho next summer. The Red Devils have seemingly missed out on signing top target Sancho from Borussia Dortmund with the German club reiterating their stance from over the last few weeks that the England international will not be sold.

Transfer deadline day LIVE

Dortmund had been demanding £108million for Sancho and set a deadline of August 10 – the start of their preseason training camp.

United refused to meet those demands and have almost reluctantly moved on to alternative targets.

Alex Telles has already been announced as United’s second summer signing with Edinson Cavani set to be confirmed later this evening.

But signing a right winger remains a priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ed Woodward.

Ousmane Dembele has been touted as the club’s top target while negotiations are reportedly also ongoing with Watford over a move for Ismaila Sarr.

Liverpool had been strongly linked with a move for Sarr before turning their attention to Diogo Jota due to Watford’s £50m asking price.

Negotiations are said to have already taken place between United and Barcelona meanwhile on a deal for Dembele.

But it appears as though United are only interested in signing either player on loan.

Man Utd transfer target warned he will ‘suffer’ in Premier League

RAC1 report Barcelona are coming around to the idea of sending Dembele out on loan.

The 23-year-old has struggled to live up to the £135m Barcelona paid to sign him as Neymar’s replacement back in 2017.

And he doesn’t seem to be in Ronald Koeman’s plans having been left on the bench for Barcelona’s last two league games.

A loan move for Sarr though looks more unlikely with Watford reportedly only interested in a permanent deal.

But United’s transfer stance on both Dembele and Sarr suggests their long term plan remains based around Sancho.

The Red Devils will have to wait until next summer to try and sign the Dortmund winger and could well face competition for his signature.

United were the only club at the table willing to hold negotiations with Dortmund to try and sign Sancho.

However, Europe’s elite clubs are expected to be financially stronger next summer and will likely be interested in a move for the 20-year-old.
