Manchester United are reportedly prepared to pay a £45million fee to sign Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele. The France international is on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar at a time where Jadon Sancho looks unlikely to arrive. And though they have been tipped to sign Dembele on loan, the 23-year-old could move to Old Trafford in a permanent deal instead.
Manchester United want to reinforce the right flank of their attack before the transfer window shuts on Monday.
The Red Devils are looking to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title this season and, for most of the summer, have been chasing Sancho.
However, with Borussia Dortmund insisting their star asset won’t be going anywhere this summer, United are now looking at alternatives.
And ESPN claim the Red Devils are prepared to pay a fee of £45m to land Dembele on a permanent basis, with the player now convinced a move could happen.
Talks between United and Barcelona are said to be ‘going well’ and there’s now cautious optimism between the club and player that a move will happen.

While United want to pay £45m for Dembele, though, Barcelona want more.
They paid £136m when they signed the 23-year-old from Borussia Dortmund back in the summer transfer window of 2017 and want as much money as possible to fund potential arrivals of their own.
The La Liga giants want to land former United star Memphis Depay from Lyon and he won’t come cheap given he currently earns wages in excess of £200,000-a-week.
Should United sign Dembele, he’d link up with compatriots Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial.
And the Red Devils have a good track record with French players at the club, having seen the likes of Patrice Evra, Eric Cantona and Louis Saha shine over the years.

Meanwhile, Cardiff City star Sol Bamba believes United would be onto a winner should they sign Dembele – despite his injury problems at Barcelona.
“He’s a similar sort of player to Sancho,” the Bluebirds star said of Dembele on Sky Sports.
“He’s direct, likes to take people on and score goals.
“I see why United decided to go for him if they don’t get Sancho, but I think the Sancho situation is going on and on and they might have to go on to another target, because if you’re not going to get the player you have to move on and get the second target.
“I think it would be a good signing for United. I know him a bit, he’s a good lad.

“I do think he needs to stay fit because if he stays fit he is an unbelievable player.
“Unfortunately he has been injured too much at Barcelona, but I think he needs a change of scenery, a change of country maybe and I think United will be the right move for him.”
As well as Dembele, United also want Alex Telles.
But latest reports have suggested they may miss out on the Brazil international, whose contract at Porto expires next year.
United also want to get several players off the books and the likes of Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Sergio Romero are all up for sale.
