Roy Keane makes bold Premier League prediction ahead of Man City v Liverpool

Roy Keane has predicted that a Manchester City loss to Liverpool would end their chances of winning the Premier League even at such an early stage of the campaign.

Last season's winners and runners-up take each other on at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon looking for a statement victory.

The Reds would go back to the top of the table with a win, while City would cut the gap between them and Jurgen Klopp's side to just two points having played a game less if they triumph.

It may still be early days in the Premier League, but speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the eagerly-anticipated clash Keane stated his belief that three points for Liverpool would all but end City's chances of success in the division.

"I think this is a huge game," Keane said. "When we look back at last season when Liverpool beat City at Anfield you always felt the title was over then.

"You look at how they've started, City have been kind of slow out the blocks although they have one or two games in hand.

"You think if Liverpool can win this game, even already, and I know it's early in the season, it's a long way back for Manchester City."

The Reds have received an injury boost, with centre-back Joel Matip returning in the starting line-up for the game after recently being missing from action.

City, meanwhile, are still missing key players Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho, and Gabriel Jesus starts up top.

Jurgen Klopp's men have lost on each of their last three trips to the Etihad in the league, although last season's 4-0 defeat did come in the days after they had been celebrating winning the title for the first time in 30 years.
