Trekking was a big run in The Everest, and this is no Everest field. If he can repeat that performance I think he can get the job done.

I’m not jumping off Russian Camelot, I’m still believing, even though he’ll have to be an exceptional horse to win the Cox Plate from barrier 14 – and I’m going to make him captain.

If rain comes, I’m very confident Diamond Effort can win the Manikato Stakes. I think Adelaide Ace is building to a win and Cherry Tortoni can bounce back.

With the Aiden O’Brien camp declaring Armory comes with better form than 2014 Cox Plate winner Adelaide, that’s good enough for me.

I’ve managed to fit in four Group 1 contenders – two in the Manikato and two in the Cox Plate.

Team WA all the way when it comes to the 100th running of the Cox Plate. Arcadia Queen is my captain. I saw the vision of her at the Valley trackwork during the week and wow, she’s back! I’ve included Russian Camelot as insurance.

On Manikato night, Bella Vella’s record at the Valley called for inclusion as did Dirty Work’s last start victory and they didn’t break the bank.

The Racing League: How it works
